I really like to listen to the lyrics and meaning of a song. These lyrics are so sad and beautiful and this came about while listening to it...which succinctly sums up how I feel during this time of life. I wanted to explore how to use only type to make a quiet, layered, simple piece.

Copenhagen

Markers and colored pencils. For those who know me, I'm obsessed with Northern Europe and hope to live in one of those countries one day.....Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Norway....I'll take any of them. For the time-being, I guess I will try to settle on my newly purchased condo.....moving out of state first.....moving out of the country later....baby steps. Thanks for looking!

This vintage inspired retro rooster illustration came about after seeing the World Vision Catalog where a gift of 2 chickens can "give children and families a lasting source of nutrition and income. Fresh eggs raise the levels of protein and other nutrients in a family’s diet, and the sale of extra eggs and chickens can pay for vital basics."
 

A portion of the sale of this rooster will go towards purchasing chickens for a family in need. "Your gift of chickens will also naturally multiply to impact generations of children. Each family that receives chickens can sell the offspring for extra income or share them with other families in need. I wanted to play with color more so here's the result using colored pencils.

Quail Family

This quail illustration came about after a friend said "I don't think people will buy art depicting quails." I took that as a challenge and created my own depiction of quail using color pencils and watercolor markers - hopefully we'll see what happens and I'll prove him wrong....
